Communications Intern-UNV Human Resources Section-Remote
Organizational Context
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme promotes peace and development through volunteerism globally, administered by UNDP. The Human Resources Section supports UNV's mandate by managing talent and HR initiatives. The Capacity Development team within HR designs and delivers learning activities for UN Volunteers worldwide, utilizing various platforms and resources.
Job Purpose
This role supports the UNV Human Resources Section's Capacity Development team by contributing to the execution of communication strategies for UN Volunteer learning activities. The intern will help enhance the visibility and effectiveness of these programs by developing engaging communication materials, managing outreach initiatives, and maintaining information on UNV's eCampus. The position aims to inform and motivate stakeholders about learning opportunities, track communication impact, and support continuous improvement through data analysis and collaboration.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include executing communication strategies to promote UNV learning activities, identifying communication objectives and channels, and creating engaging content such as graphics and presentations. The role involves organizing outreach initiatives, developing and distributing newsletters, announcements, and learning kits, and maintaining up-to-date information on UNV's eCampus. Additionally, the intern will track the impact of communication efforts using KPIs, prepare effectiveness reports, and collaborate with the Capacity Development Team and other stakeholders. Management of communication via WhatsApp channels and social media platforms, including content scheduling and analysis of engagement metrics, is also a core duty.
Work Experience
Experience is desirable in creating and disseminating communication materials, managing social media accounts, supporting communication campaigns, graphic design, multimedia content creation, organizing events/workshops/webinars, and writing for various platforms. Experience with audience engagement, content calendar creation, and social media analytics is also beneficial.
Skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; outstanding organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively; excellent problem-solving skills; strong IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite); proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, InDesign); solid knowledge of social media and digital media.
