Partnership Analyst (open Externally)
Organizational Context
The UNV Field Units are responsible for mobilizing and placing UN Volunteers to support peace, development, and humanitarian needs. They represent UNV in countries, bringing services closer to partners including governments, UN entities, civil society, and the private sector. This role is situated within a Field Unit, reporting to the Portfolio Manager/Specialist.
Job Purpose
The Partnership Analyst leads country-level analytical and partnership support to advance UNV's volunteer mobilization agenda. This role is crucial for strengthening UNV's position as a solutions provider for UN partners, driving increased and diversified volunteer mobilization, and ensuring alignment between country-level engagement and broader UNV priorities. The incumbent will combine strategic partnership analysis, business intelligence, and operational coordination, while also overseeing UN Volunteers supporting Field Unit activities. The position ensures compliance with UNV and UNDP policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include developing and sustaining country-level partnerships with UN agencies, governments, and civil society to identify collaboration opportunities and integrate volunteer solutions. This involves participating in UN planning processes, analyzing strategic documents, and assessing partner demand to inform mobilization strategies. The role also entails developing and maintaining business intelligence on UN partner mandates and programme pipelines, monitoring mobilization trends, and contributing to country-specific recommendations. Additionally, the Partnership Analyst ensures the duty of care for UN Volunteers, coordinates security and medical support, and oversees their well-being and performance. Management duties include developing and implementing the Field Unit's work plan, managing operational funds, and supervising assigned UNV personnel.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience (with a Master's degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required in partnerships, development cooperation, international relations, research, or programme analysis, preferably in humanitarian, development, or peace-related fields. Experience in partnerships, inter-agency collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and conducting analytical work is essential. Proficiency in standard office software and digital tools is necessary.
