Organizational Context
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme promotes peace and development through volunteerism worldwide, administered by UNDP. The Human Resources Section (HRS) supports the organization's workforce, with the Capacity Development Team (CDT) designing learning programs for UN Volunteers. This role sits within the CDT, contributing to the UNV Learning Portfolio.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the UNV Capacity Development Team (CDT) in designing and delivering learning initiatives for UN Volunteers globally. The role will contribute to various aspects of the UNV Learning Portfolio, including event administration, logistics, learning content development, communication, and platform support. The intern will gain practical experience in human resources, learning and development, and international organizational operations, while assisting in enhancing the skills and engagement of UN Volunteers worldwide. This position is designed to complement the intern's academic studies and provide valuable exposure to the UN system's operational environment.
Responsibilities
Assist in the coordination and delivery of global workshops, managing enrolments, facilitator schedules, and virtual event logistics. Ensure timely preparation, review, and dissemination of learning materials, collaborating with focal points. Perform administrative tasks including attendance tracking and event summary preparation. Support the development and design of learning content for UN Volunteers, collaborating with subject matter experts to create engaging experiences. Aid facilitators by consolidating inputs and managing materials. Contribute to communication and advocacy efforts by curating and distributing promotional materials for learning initiatives. Support monitoring and reporting by assisting with tracking systems for learning outcomes and evaluation data. Maintain and update information on the UNV eCampus learning platform.
Work Experience
Experience is not strictly required but is beneficial in areas such as creating communication materials, managing social media, organizing events/workshops/webinars, conducting research and reporting, using Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint, and working in diverse or international environments.
Skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities. Excellent problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PPT, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Forms, SharePoint). Knowledge of design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and digital media literacy are desirable.
