Organizational Context

Pakistan, a signatory to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, faces significant challenges for its children and adolescents. UNICEF Pakistan supports the government in achieving SDGs and upholding children's rights through partnerships with authorities, communities, and families. The focus is on child survival, thriving, learning, protection, and a safe environment. This assignment is part of UNICEF's Generation Unlimited (GenU) initiative, aiming to enhance learning-to-earning pathways for youth.

Job Purpose

This UNV assignment supports UNICEF's Generation Unlimited (GenU) - Pur Azm Pakistan initiative, which focuses on strengthening learning-to-earning pathways for adolescents and young people. The role will enhance access to skills development, education, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. It promotes meaningful youth participation in decision-making and fosters partnerships for youth to contribute to social and economic development. The initiative seeks innovative solutions for vulnerable youth and aims to create an enabling environment for them to thrive. The assignment contributes to youth empowerment, civic engagement, and leadership, supporting evidence-based programming and advocacy to amplify youth voices and priorities.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the implementation of the Generation Unlimited (GenU) Country Operating Plan and support the GenU Secretariat's functioning, ensuring coordination across structures and partners. Assist in launching the National Adolescent and Youth Policy (NAYP) and developing its roadmap and implementation framework. Support innovation challenges and youth-led initiatives by coordinating, documenting, engaging partners, and following up with participants. Facilitate day-to-day coordination for GenU and Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP) activities, including events and consultations. Manage knowledge for ADAP and GenU, documenting best practices and lessons learned for reporting and communication products. Organize and document meetings for key coordination platforms, ensuring follow-up actions. Support youth engagement by maintaining network data, coordinating with stakeholders, and keeping youth connected to opportunities. Participate in field monitoring visits to track provincial interventions and progress. Contribute to establishing youth engagement platforms at the grassroots level.

Work Experience

Requires 3 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated skills in coordination, partnership building, and follow-up with diverse stakeholders including government, UN agencies, and youth networks. Experience in adolescent/youth programming, youth engagement, skills development, and policy implementation is beneficial. Strong writing, documentation, and knowledge management abilities are essential, along with proficiency in preparing professional presentations and communication materials.
