Organizational Context

In Tunisia, UNICEF's Country Programme (2021-2025) prioritizes Early Childhood Development (ECD), supporting government efforts to increase public and private investment, reduce inequalities, and strengthen human capital. The office supports a multisectoral ECD strategy to improve health, nutrition, preschool education access and quality, responsive parenting practices, and governance, with a focus on vulnerable children, including those on the move.
Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will join a multisectoral team within the Early Childhood Development (ECD) section, promoting responsive care for children aged 0-6 through interventions in health, nutrition, child protection, social protection, early stimulation, and preschool education. The role involves supporting the implementation of the ECD program and fostering an integrated approach focused on the needs of young children and their families, including those in vulnerable situations like mobility. This position contributes to strengthening the national ECD strategy, enhancing partnerships, and ensuring vulnerable children and their families have access to quality integrated services, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide transversal support to the ECD section's program implementation, working under the direct supervision of the ECD Manager. Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of activities related to the national ECD strategy and program priorities. This involves facilitating coordination and exchange among government partners, civil society, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. The role includes supporting the integration of ECD and 'responsive care' principles into health and nutrition services, particularly for children on the move, and documenting the implementation of the Positive Parenting Program. The volunteer will also contribute to strengthening the partnership ecosystem, coordinating capacity-building activities, community mobilization, and stakeholder engagement. Additionally, the role involves supporting efforts to improve access to quality integrated services for vulnerable children and their families, preparing technical notes, and assisting with the documentation and monitoring/evaluation of the ECD portfolio's performance.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience is required. This includes experience in the medical sector, early childhood development, public health, development, or public policy. Experience in project coordination or management, and working with civil society or non-governmental organizations is also desirable.
