Job Purpose
This role involves translating funding proposal documents from English to Chinese for the World Health Organization (WHO) in Mauritania. The primary purpose is to ensure accurate and high-quality translation of technical content related to public health, noncommunicable diseases, and international development. The volunteer will contribute to official communications by maintaining a formal, diplomatic tone and preserving document structure. The final output must be linguistically precise and contextually appropriate for submission to Chinese governmental authorities, requiring meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Responsibilities
The online volunteer will provide a complete and accurate translation of funding proposal documents from English to Chinese. Key duties include translating the full content, paying close attention to technical terminology in public health, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), and international development. The volunteer must ensure the translation maintains a formal and diplomatic tone suitable for official communications with government entities. Preserving the original document's formatting and structure where relevant is also required. A final quality check to guarantee linguistic and conceptual accuracy is essential, ensuring the document is ready for submission to Chinese authorities.
Work Experience
Candidates must be native Chinese speakers and fluent in English. Proven experience in professional translation, particularly in public health, international development, or technical cooperation, is preferred. Experience translating official documents, proposals, or reports for governmental or international institutions is also desirable.

Excellent command of both English and Chinese, with the ability to accurately convey complex and technical content clearly, diplomatically, and culturally appropriately.
