Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The Research Associate will support the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC) National Project Management Unit in implementing the GEF-7 project on "Sustainable management and restoration of degraded landscapes for achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) in India." This role involves assisting with technical tasks, data collection, analysis, and reporting to ensure smooth project management. The associate will contribute to research, prepare technical documents, track project activities, and facilitate communication among stakeholders. The position aims to support the achievement of land degradation neutrality through an ecosystem-based approach, contributing to national targets for land restoration and biodiversity conservation.
Responsibilities
The Research Associate will assist with technical tasks including data collection, analysis, and reporting to ensure smooth project management. Responsibilities include conducting research and preparing outputs such as technical documents, reports, and presentations. The role involves supporting the implementation and tracking of project activities, ensuring regular communication and coordination with the National Project Management Unit, State Project Steering Committee, UNDP, and MoEFCC. The associate will prepare Annual Work Plans, coordinate project meetings, and follow up on activities with technical agencies and organizations. Additionally, the role includes providing logistical support for workshops, assisting in report preparation (progress, donor, financial, audit), and supporting the development of a communication strategy. The position also requires providing technical input, handling correspondence, offering administrative and operational support, analyzing implementation challenges, and staying updated on relevant research.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in research, documentation, or related areas is required. Experience in climate change adaptation/mitigation, agriculture, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, or ecosystem/land restoration is advantageous. Strong analytical, writing, coordination, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management.
