Organizational Context

Job Purpose

The Communication Associate will support UNDP's Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Biodiversity portfolio in India. This role is crucial for developing and disseminating knowledge products and coordinating communication activities for NRM and Biodiversity projects, which are implemented in collaboration with Central and State Governments. The incumbent will help enhance the visibility of project work by creating engaging content for various platforms, promoting knowledge sharing, and contributing to the overall communication strategy. This position aims to effectively communicate project outcomes and foster greater understanding and engagement with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The Communication Associate will support the Project Manager in developing and disseminating project knowledge products. Key duties include developing and finalizing communication strategies aligned with project priorities, and assisting project teams in designing communication materials for government and external partners. The role involves implementing a Knowledge Management and Communication Strategy, developing training modules, and analyzing project-generated knowledge. Responsibilities also include creating success stories, articles, and content for social media and websites to boost project visibility. The Associate will promote knowledge building and sharing, develop and edit promotional materials, and produce reports on communication activities. Additionally, the role requires experimenting with innovative communication products, supporting the NRM & Biodiversity Portfolio's communication plans, and assisting with project monitoring and evaluation requirements.

Work Experience

A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in communications and related activities within development projects or international development agencies is required. Experience in written and oral communication, a good understanding of biodiversity, climate change, and development issues, and proficiency in IT applications, including MS Office, are essential. Familiarity with applications like Front Page, Publisher, and multimedia tools is beneficial.
