Promote Immunization Awareness Across the Western Pacific Region
Organizational Context
The World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WHO WPRO) collaborates with Member States and partners to enhance regional health and well-being. Immunization is a critical public health intervention, saving millions of lives annually and protecting communities from preventable diseases. This role supports communication efforts leading up to the 77th WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026, focusing on raising awareness about immunization's importance.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to mobilize Online Volunteers to support WHO WPRO's regional immunization awareness campaign. Volunteers will raise awareness about the importance of immunization and foster informed discussions within their communities and online networks. The campaign will highlight WHO's regional immunization priorities through 2030, including accelerating measles and rubella elimination, reducing zero-dose children, strengthening life-course immunization, and promoting equitable access, sustainable investment, political commitment, and vaccine confidence across the Western Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will share 1-2 social media posts weekly, using various formats (images, videos, text) to highlight WHO's evidence-based immunization messages or create original content inspired by them. They will participate in a mandatory virtual orientation and two virtual learning sessions on immunization, vaccine confidence, health communication, and countering misinformation. Volunteers will encourage constructive social media conversations, promote accurate health information, and track their engagement activities. A communications toolkit with key messages and guidance will be provided. Optional Group Coordinator roles involve additional leadership and reporting responsibilities.
Work Experience
Required: Strong understanding of social media platforms and the ability to communicate evidence-based health information clearly and engagingly. Active presence on one or more social media platforms is essential. Desirable: Basic knowledge of online community engagement, social media interaction, and responsible digital communication.
Skills
Strong understanding of social media platforms, effective communication of health information, social media engagement, responsible digital communication, ability to work collaboratively, adherence to campaign messaging and guidance. Interest or experience in public health, community engagement, advocacy, communications, education, or social and behavioral change is an asset. Fluency in Mongolian and working knowledge of English are desirable.
