Promote Immunization Awareness Across the Western Pacific Region
Organizational Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) is the UN's global health authority, established in 1948. WHO Vietnam, a Member State since 1950, supports the government in achieving universal health coverage and improving health outcomes. Operating within the UN's 'Delivering as One' initiative, WHO Vietnam collaborates with national partners to address health challenges and transition towards middle-income status. The Western Pacific Region, home to nearly 1.9 billion people, prioritizes immunization as a key public health intervention.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to support the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WHO WPRO) in its communication efforts leading up to the WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026. The primary goal is to raise awareness about the critical importance of immunization and foster informed discussions within online communities and personal networks. Volunteers will contribute to highlighting WHO's regional immunization priorities through 2030, which include accelerating measles and rubella elimination, reducing zero-dose children, strengthening life-course immunization, and promoting vaccine confidence and equitable access to routine immunization services across the Western Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will support WHO WPRO's regional immunization messaging campaign by sharing 1-2 posts weekly on their personal social media platforms. These posts can be WHO-provided content or original creations inspired by key messages, using various formats like images, videos, and text. Volunteers must participate in a mandatory virtual orientation and attend two virtual learning sessions on immunization, vaccine confidence, health communication, and countering misinformation. They will encourage respectful online conversations, promote accurate health information, and track their engagement activities. A Group Coordinator role is available for volunteers willing to take on additional leadership responsibilities, including troubleshooting and ensuring accurate reporting of engagement metrics.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a strong understanding of social media platforms and the ability to communicate evidence-based health information in a clear, engaging, and culturally appropriate manner. An active presence on one or more social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn) is necessary. Basic knowledge of online community engagement and responsible digital communication is desirable.

Key skills include strong understanding of social media platforms, effective communication of evidence-based health information, engaging and culturally appropriate content creation, online community engagement, and responsible digital communication. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and/or Vietnamese are also important. The ability to work collaboratively and adhere to campaign messaging and guidance is essential.
