Promote Immunization Awareness Across the Western Pacific Region
Organizational Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) is the UN's directing and coordinating authority on international health, aiming to ensure all peoples attain the highest possible level of health. Established in 1948, WHO promotes health, keeps the world safe, and serves the vulnerable. The Lao People's Democratic Republic has been a WHO member since 1950, with WHO maintaining a continuous presence and strong partnership with the Ministry of Health. The WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WPRO) works to improve regional health outcomes.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to support WHO WPRO's regional immunization awareness campaign leading up to the WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026. Online Volunteers will play a crucial role in disseminating evidence-based information about immunization and its importance across their social networks and online communities. The campaign focuses on WHO's regional immunization priorities through 2030, including accelerating measles and rubella elimination, reducing zero-dose children, strengthening life-course immunization, and promoting equitable access, sustainable investment, and vaccine confidence. Volunteers will contribute to fostering informed conversations and encouraging the use of trusted health resources.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will support WHO WPRO's immunization messaging campaign by sharing 1-2 posts weekly on their personal social media platforms. These posts can be WHO-provided content or original content inspired by key messages, using various formats like images and videos. Volunteers must attend a mandatory virtual orientation and two virtual learning sessions on immunization, vaccine confidence, health communication, and countering misinformation. They will encourage respectful online discussions on immunization, promote accurate health information, and track their engagement activities. A communications toolkit will be provided. Optional Group Coordinator roles involve additional leadership and reporting responsibilities. Volunteers must not provide medical advice.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a strong understanding of social media platforms and the ability to communicate evidence-based health information clearly, engagingly, and appropriately. An active presence on one or more social media platforms is essential. Basic knowledge of online community engagement and responsible digital communication is desirable. Experience in public health, communications, or advocacy is an asset.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and/or local languages are necessary. Ability to work collaboratively and adhere to campaign guidance is crucial.
