Promote Immunization Awareness Across the Western Pacific Region
Organizational Context
The WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WHO WPRO) collaborates with Member States and partners to enhance regional health and well-being. Immunization is a critical public health intervention, preventing numerous deaths and protecting communities from vaccine-preventable diseases. This initiative supports communication efforts leading up to the WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026, aiming to raise awareness about immunization's importance and foster informed discussions.
Job Purpose
This role supports WHO WPRO's regional immunization messaging campaign through targeted advocacy. Online Volunteers will raise awareness about the importance of immunization and encourage informed conversations within their communities and online networks. The campaign will highlight WHO's regional immunization priorities through 2030, focusing on accelerating measles and rubella elimination, reducing zero-dose children, strengthening life-course immunization, and promoting vaccine confidence. Volunteers will share evidence-based messages and engage in constructive online discussions, contributing to improved public health outcomes in the Western Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will support WHO WPRO's regional immunization messaging campaign by sharing 1-2 posts weekly across personal social media platforms and online communities. These posts will highlight evidence-based immunization messages provided by WHO or be inspired by them, using various formats like images, videos, and text. Volunteers must participate in a mandatory virtual orientation and attend two virtual learning sessions on immunization, vaccine confidence, and health communication. They will encourage respectful, constructive conversations, promote accurate health information, and track their engagement activities. A Group Coordinator role is available for additional leadership responsibilities, including supporting a group of volunteers and compiling a final report. Volunteers will not provide medical advice.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a strong understanding of social media platforms and the ability to communicate evidence-based health information clearly and engagingly. Familiarity with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, or LinkedIn is essential. Basic knowledge of online community engagement and responsible digital communication is desirable. Experience in public health, advocacy, or communications is an asset.

Volunteers should possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English and/or local languages.
