Promote Immunization Awareness Across the Western Pacific Region
Organizational Context
The World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WHO WPRO) collaborates with Member States and partners to enhance regional health and well-being. Immunization is a critical public health intervention, preventing numerous deaths and protecting communities from vaccine-preventable diseases. This initiative supports communications efforts leading up to the 77th WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026, focusing on regional immunization priorities through 2030.
Job Purpose
This role aims to support WHO WPRO's regional immunization awareness campaign through online advocacy. Volunteers will raise awareness about immunization's importance and foster informed discussions within their communities and online networks. The campaign will highlight key regional immunization priorities, including measles and rubella elimination, reducing zero-dose children, strengthening life-course immunization, and increasing vaccine confidence. The objective is to promote equitable access, sustainable investment, and political commitment to immunization across the Western Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will share 1-2 posts weekly on personal social media platforms, using provided WHO messages or creating original content inspired by them. They will participate in a mandatory virtual orientation and two virtual learning sessions on immunization, vaccine confidence, and countering misinformation. Volunteers will encourage respectful online conversations about immunization, promote accurate health information, and track their engagement activities. They will not provide medical advice. Optional Group Coordinator roles involve additional leadership, troubleshooting, and reporting responsibilities.
Work Experience
Required: Strong understanding of social media platforms and the ability to communicate evidence-based health information clearly and engagingly. Active presence on one or more social media platforms is essential. Desirable: Basic knowledge of online community engagement and responsible digital communication.
