Immunization is a critical public health intervention, preventing numerous deaths and protecting communities from vaccine-preventable diseases. This role supports communications efforts leading up to the 77th WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026, focusing on raising awareness about immunization's importance.

Job Purpose

This assignment aims to mobilize Online Volunteers to raise awareness about the critical importance of immunization across the Western Pacific Region. Volunteers will contribute to WHO WPRO's communication efforts leading up to the 77th WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026. The goal is to encourage informed conversations within communities and online networks, highlighting WHO's regional immunization priorities through 2030. This includes accelerating measles and rubella elimination, reducing zero-dose children, strengthening life-course immunization, and promoting vaccine confidence and equitable access.

Responsibilities

Online Volunteers will support WHO WPRO's regional immunization messaging campaign from September to October 2026. Key duties include sharing 1-2 posts weekly on personal social media platforms, using provided evidence-based messages or creating original content inspired by them. Volunteers must attend a mandatory orientation session and two virtual learning sessions on immunization, vaccine confidence, and countering misinformation. They will encourage respectful online conversations, promote accurate health information, and track their engagement activities. Optional Group Coordinators will provide additional leadership and reporting. Volunteers will not provide medical advice.

Work Experience

The role seeks enthusiastic Online Volunteers to support WHO WPRO's regional immunization messaging. While no specific prior experience is detailed, volunteers are expected to actively participate in campaign activities, share information on social media, and engage in learning sessions. The possibility of a Group Coordinator role with leadership responsibilities exists.

Skills
