Promote Immunization Awareness Across the Western Pacific Region
Organizational Context
The World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WHO WPRO) collaborates with Member States and partners to enhance regional health and well-being. Immunization is a critical public health intervention, preventing numerous deaths and protecting communities from vaccine-preventable diseases. This initiative supports communications efforts leading up to the 77th WHO Regional Committee Meeting in October 2026, aiming to raise awareness about immunization's importance.
Job Purpose
This role supports WHO WPRO's regional immunization awareness campaign in Cambodia, leading up to the 77th WHO Regional Committee Meeting. The Online Volunteer will raise awareness about the importance of immunization and encourage informed discussions within their communities and online networks. The campaign focuses on WHO's regional immunization priorities through 2030, including measles and rubella elimination, reducing zero-dose children, strengthening life-course immunization, and increasing vaccine confidence. The volunteer will contribute to advocacy efforts by sharing evidence-based information and fostering constructive dialogue on social media.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will share 1-2 posts weekly on personal social media, using provided WHO messages or creating original content inspired by them. They will participate in a mandatory virtual orientation and two virtual learning sessions on immunization topics. Volunteers will encourage respectful, constructive conversations, promoting accurate health information and countering misinformation. They will track and report engagement activities, including post links and reach. A Group Coordinator role is available for additional leadership, involving group support and report compilation. Volunteers must not provide medical advice.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a strong understanding of social media platforms and the ability to communicate evidence-based health information clearly and engagingly. Familiarity with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, or LinkedIn is essential. Basic knowledge of online community engagement and responsible digital communication is desirable. Experience in public health, advocacy, or communications is an asset.

The ability to work collaboratively, follow guidance, and interest in public health or advocacy are important. Fluency in Khmer and working knowledge of English are required/desirable, respectively.
