Child Protection Officer

Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer Child Protection Officer will support the coordination and implementation of Child Protection Sub-Sector (CPSS) activities within the Rohingya refugee response in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. This role involves maintaining effective coordination mechanisms with sector partners and camp focal points, mapping services, and establishing referral pathways. The officer will be crucial in managing and analyzing child protection data to identify trends, service gaps, and priority needs, ensuring accurate and timely information for evidence-based decision-making, advocacy, and resource mobilization. The position also requires supporting information management systems, preparing reports, and facilitating meetings and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the overall child protection response.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection Officer will support the CP Sub-Sector Coordinator by maintaining coordination mechanisms with sector partners and camp focal points. Responsibilities include coordinating service mapping and referral pathways, and ensuring timely updates on child protection services. The role involves collecting, validating, analyzing, and disseminating child protection data using various information management systems to identify trends and gaps. The officer will maintain and update CPSS information management platforms, ensuring accessibility and confidentiality of documents and data. Support will be provided for preparing situation reports, dashboards, and presentations for decision-making and advocacy. During emergencies, the officer will assist with rapid data collection and reporting. Organizing and facilitating CPSS meetings, working groups, and consultations is also a key duty. Additionally, the role includes supporting training initiatives, coordinating communication with camp focal points, conducting field visits to monitor implementation and address challenges, and monitoring emerging child protection concerns. The officer will also contribute to developing communication and advocacy materials.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional work experience at national and/or international levels is required, with at least 3 years specifically in Child Protection, GBV, or other protection-related fields and humanitarian coordination. Experience in knowledge management, information management, monitoring, and evaluation is essential. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, reporting, and data visualization is necessary. Experience managing information safely and confidentially, strong interpersonal skills, and adaptability in challenging environments are also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management is expected.
