Coordinator for UN’s Participation at EXPO 2027
Organizational Context
The UN Country Team in Serbia comprises 19 entities working under the UN Resident Coordinator to support national development priorities and the SDGs. The UN system operates within the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, aligning with national priorities, Agenda 2030, and Serbia's EU accession process. The UN will participate in EXPO 2027 Belgrade to showcase its values, promote SDGs, and engage audiences on global challenges. The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) leads the UN's engagement for EXPO 2027, coordinating with UN entities, national counterparts, and EXPO organizers.
Job Purpose
This role supports the UN's participation in EXPO 2027 Belgrade, a significant international event. The UN Volunteer will be part of a dedicated EXPO team, working closely with the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) and various UN entities. The primary purpose is to provide day-to-day coordination and programme support for the preparation and successful delivery of the UN Pavilion. This includes managing inputs from UN entities, coordinating activities, supporting programming and events, and tracking progress against timelines and deliverables. During the EXPO, the role will ensure the smooth implementation of the Pavilion's programme and daily operations, contributing to the UN's visibility and engagement.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support UN system coordination for EXPO 2027, consolidating inputs from participating UN entities for the Pavilion's programme, activities, and budget. This includes liaising with EXPO counterparts, government bodies, and UN entities to ensure timely information exchange and follow-up. The role involves coordinating thematic and programme inputs from UN entities in Serbia for the Pavilion and related activities. Additionally, the Volunteer will provide substantive and logistical support for the Resident Coordinator and RCO's participation in EXPO-related meetings, including preparing briefing notes and presentations. Support will also be given to EXPO-related communications, maintaining documentation, and mapping potential partnerships for the UN's EXPO engagement.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of relevant experience, including project or programme support. Desirable experience includes working with government institutions, international organizations, NGOs, or academia. Experience in communications, partnerships, or programme coordination is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to work in a multicultural environment are essential.
