Organizational Context

The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) serves as the specialized health agency for the Americas, working with member states and partners to strengthen health systems, respond to emergencies, and improve access to essential health services. In Bolivia, PAHO/WHO supports the Ministry of Health and Sports in developing a national roadmap to accelerate and sustain the elimination of priority diseases by 2030, addressing challenges like territorial inequalities and fragmented interventions.

Job Purpose

This role supports PAHO/WHO and the Ministry of Health and Sports in Bolivia in developing a national roadmap for disease elimination by 2030. The volunteer will contribute to the collection and systematization of technical information, organize consultations with national and subnational stakeholders, and support the definition of indicators and monitoring mechanisms. The objective is to facilitate coordination among technical programs, health system management levels, and strategic partners, ensuring a participatory and viable roadmap aligned with national priorities and regional elimination commitments.

Responsibilities

The UN Volunteer will support the collection, review, and systematization of technical, epidemiological, programmatic, and regulatory information for the national disease elimination roadmap. This includes developing and updating matrices to identify prioritized diseases, their epidemiological status, existing interventions, gaps, targets, indicators, responsibilities, and timelines. The volunteer will analyze technical, operational, institutional, and territorial gaps. They will participate in technical meetings and consultations, support the logistical and technical organization of these events, and prepare minutes and reports, tracking agreements and deadlines. The role involves contributing to the drafting and consolidation of the roadmap components, ensuring alignment with national policies and PAHO/WHO frameworks, and facilitating information exchange among stakeholders. Regular progress reports and maintaining confidentiality of information are also key duties.

Work Experience

No prior experience is required. However, one year of general experience is beneficial. Previous experience in managing statistical data, facilitating workshops, or similar administrative functions is an advantage. Basic computer skills, organizational abilities, and strong ethical conduct are expected.
