Organizational Context
UN Women MCO-Caribbean operates across 22 countries and territories in the English and Dutch-speaking Caribbean, aligning with the UN Multi-Country Sustainable Development Framework. The office focuses on gender equality, women's empowerment, and achieving equality between men and women. Its work supports four key outcomes: normative frameworks, women's economic empowerment, ending violence against women and girls, and climate change and disaster risk resilience, addressing critical regional challenges.
Job Purpose
The Programme Associate will support UN Women MCO-Caribbean's mission by contributing to research and programme implementation. Reporting to the Deputy Representative, the role involves providing essential operational, administrative, and programmatic support. The incumbent will work closely with operations, programme, and project staff to ensure the effective execution of UN Women's mandate in the region. This includes assisting with planning, knowledge management, collaborative activities, and event organization, thereby contributing to the achievement of gender equality and women's empowerment goals across the Caribbean.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate will provide administrative support for programme planning, including work plans, budgets, and proposals. This involves assisting with consultancy and partnership processes and supporting the implementation of activities, mission travels, and events. The role includes managing programme and project materials, preparing public information and briefing materials, and assembling presentations. Additionally, the Associate will gather data and information for documents, guidelines, and position papers. Responsibilities also encompass supporting collaborative activities between programme and operations units, assisting with budget monitoring, payments, and financial report reviews. The role involves managing logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, and events, and identifying best practices in project management. Finally, the Associate will assist in organizing UN Women and UN activities and events, participating in workshops, and supporting inter-agency coordination.
Work Experience
One month of relevant experience is required. Demonstrated interest or experience in gender research, climate change adaptation, disaster management, food systems, livelihoods, women's economic empowerment, or ending violence against women is beneficial. Experience as a volunteer or in a different cultural context is highly regarded. Skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, and supporting a team are assets. Proficiency in computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel) is mandatory.
