Job Purpose
This role aims to enhance the English language proficiency of WFP Egypt Country Office staff, focusing on speaking, listening, and writing skills. The volunteer will assess participants' current levels, design and deliver tailored training materials and virtual sessions for beginner, intermediate, and upper-intermediate groups. The objective is to empower staff to communicate more effectively, collaborate confidently, and represent WFP's work with greater impact, ultimately improving professional communication and reporting quality within the office and with international stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer Tutor will be responsible for assessing the English proficiency of WFP staff across different levels. They will design or adapt customized learning materials focusing on practical workplace communication, including meetings, email writing, and presentations. Key duties involve facilitating two weekly one-hour virtual sessions per assigned group, incorporating interactive activities like discussions and role-plays to enhance engagement. The volunteer will provide assignments, offer feedback, and conduct final assessments to measure progress. Collaboration with WFP HR focal points is essential for monitoring progress and adjusting content to align with organizational goals.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching or coaching English as a second language, preferably in a professional or adult learning context, is required. Experience in multicultural environments and familiarity with virtual learning tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom) are also necessary.
Skills
Native or near-native English proficiency, including pronunciation, is required. Strong facilitation skills, the ability to develop and customize learning materials for diverse proficiency levels, and proficiency in virtual learning platforms are essential. Experience working in multicultural environments is also valued.
