Organizational Context
The Ibero-American Program for the Strengthening of South-South Cooperation (PIFCSS) is an intergovernmental initiative promoting South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSC/CT) in Ibero-America, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. It fosters horizontal cooperation among countries, sharing experiences and building consensus. PIFCSS strengthens SSC/CT through political and technical work, aiming for development results and gender mainstreaming. The RizomaSur Virtual Cycles are a key platform for this exchange and learning.
Job Purpose
This role supports the RizomaSur Virtual Cycles, a platform for South-South Cooperation (SSC) exchange and learning within the Ibero-American context. The volunteer will ensure the accuracy and accessibility of video content by meticulously reviewing and correcting Spanish and Portuguese subtitles. This involves verifying transcriptions, correcting spelling and punctuation, and ensuring the precise use of institutional acronyms and specific terminology related to SSC/CT and PIFCSS. The goal is to guarantee that all participants can fully understand the session content, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of knowledge sharing and mutual learning within the RizomaSur community.
Responsibilities
Review and correct Spanish and Portuguese subtitles for recordings of the PIFCSS RizomaSur Virtual Cycles sessions. Ensure accurate subtitling in both languages, paying close attention to the correct spelling of institutional acronyms and specific terminology related to South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSC/CT) and PIFCSS. Verify that subtitles accurately reflect the sector's vocabulary. Receive videos and preliminary subtitles or transcripts from the PIFCSS Technical Unit (UT). The UT PIFCSS will oversee the process. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in transcription, spelling, and punctuation, as well as the ability to research and verify specific institutional terminology.
Work Experience
Bilingual or native proficiency in Spanish and Portuguese, both written and spoken. Experience in subtitling, transcription, or audiovisual text correction. Familiarity with automatic subtitling tools, such as YouTube's. Ability to work autonomously, organize tasks, and meet deadlines. Knowledge or interest in South-South and Triangular Cooperation is desirable but not essential.
