The unit is enhancing its media monitoring capabilities to better track UN-related developments and public perception across various media channels.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to support UNIC Manama's media monitoring efforts by tracking and analyzing developments, public perception, and coverage of UN activities across traditional and social media platforms. The volunteer will contribute to enhancing the UN's understanding of its public image and the effectiveness of its outreach in Bahrain and the Gulf region. This role is crucial for informing advocacy campaigns and ensuring accurate representation of the UN's work, providing valuable insights into regional perceptions and media trends.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will monitor designated news and social media platforms to identify key headlines and developments relevant to the UN's work in the region. Responsibilities include analyzing and summarizing public opinions on the effectiveness of UN efforts, noting both positive and critical feedback. The volunteer will also cover activities of UN personnel related to significant regional issues. A key duty involves developing daily media updates and comprehensive media coverage reports in close coordination with the communications unit. Each volunteer is expected to produce one detailed weekly report summarizing findings and trends.

Work Experience

Previous experience in media and communication, with a specific focus on media monitoring, is required. Candidates should possess strong analytical and reporting skills. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is essential. Applicants are encouraged to submit samples of previous work related to media monitoring to demonstrate their capabilities.
