Job Purpose
The WFP in the Democratic Republic of Congo seeks a Community Engagement and Communication Assistant to support operations in Kalemie, Kananga, Bunia, and Beni. This role is crucial for enhancing communication with communities, fostering community mobilization, and increasing the visibility of WFP's interventions. The position will contribute to designing and implementing community engagement strategies, strengthening accountability to affected populations, and ensuring their voices are integrated into response plans. The assistant will work in challenging contexts with high levels of food insecurity, supporting WFP's efforts to provide essential food and nutrition assistance.
Responsibilities
The Community Engagement and Communication Assistant will contribute to developing and implementing community communication strategies in WFP's intervention areas. This includes promoting strong community engagement to ensure affected populations understand WFP's mission and assistance modalities. The role involves establishing mechanisms to gather and integrate feedback from diverse community groups, particularly marginalized ones, into response plans. Responsibilities also include assessing community information needs, identifying and leveraging local capacities, and producing quality content for various communication channels. The assistant will facilitate dialogue between communities and humanitarian actors, support training on community engagement, develop strategic partnerships, and enhance visibility through multimedia content collection.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience is required in community engagement, programmatic activities, reporting, and communication. Experience in journalism, advocacy, or social sciences is also relevant. The candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills in French, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to meet deadlines.
