Job Purpose

This role supports the UNV office in Mauritius by enhancing digital outreach and communication efforts. The primary goal is to increase the visibility of the communication team's valuable work and to boost the growth and adoption of the Online Volunteering service at the country level. By actively engaging a wider network of volunteers, the position contributes to raising public awareness, strengthening community engagement, and expanding the overall reach and impact of the UNV programme in Mauritius. The role is crucial for amplifying UNV's presence and impact through strategic digital engagement.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteers will significantly contribute to the UNV office in Mauritius's digital outreach activities. Key responsibilities include promoting corporate and local content across various social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). Volunteers will also be tasked with creating engaging content, such as posts, articles, graphics, and short videos, tailored for diverse local audiences to raise awareness of relevant messages and stories. Community engagement is vital, involving active interaction with local organizations and communities to build partnerships and extend campaign reach. Additionally, volunteers will support online events like webinars and digital storytelling sessions, and monitor/report on engagement metrics and feedback from outreach initiatives. They will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and receive necessary training and resources.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong communication and writing skills, creativity, and a solid understanding of social media platforms. Online Volunteers must have active accounts on at least three specified social media platforms. Desirable experience includes content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management. Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of the local Mauritian language being a strong asset.
