Job Purpose

This role supports the UNV office in Botswana's digital outreach and communication efforts by increasing the visibility of the communication team's work and promoting the Online Volunteering service. The Online Volunteer will contribute to strengthening the growth and uptake of the service at the country level. By engaging a wider network of volunteers, the role aims to raise public awareness, foster community engagement, and expand the overall reach of the UNV programme in Botswana. The assignment focuses on social media presence and digital communication strategies.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will support the UNV office in Botswana's digital outreach activities. Key duties include promoting corporate and local content across various social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). Responsibilities also involve creating engaging content such as posts, articles, graphics, and short videos tailored for diverse local audiences to raise awareness of relevant messages and stories. The role requires actively engaging with local organizations and communities to build partnerships and extend campaign reach. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in organizing and participating in online events like webinars and digital storytelling sessions, and will monitor and report on engagement metrics and feedback from outreach activities.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong communication and writing skills, creativity, and a solid understanding of social media platforms. Online Volunteers must have active accounts on at least three specified social media platforms. Desirable experience includes content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management.

Skills

Essential skills are strong communication and writing abilities, creativity, and a good understanding of social media platforms. Proficiency in English is required, with fluency in Setswana being a desirable asset. Experience with content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management is advantageous.
