The UNV office in South Africa seeks Online Volunteers to enhance its digital outreach and communication, aiming to increase visibility of its work, promote the Online Volunteering service, and expand the UNV programme's reach within the country.

Job Purpose

The UNV South Africa office is recruiting enthusiastic and creative Online Volunteers to bolster its digital outreach and communication initiatives. The primary goal is to elevate the profile of the communication team's impactful work and to drive the adoption and growth of the Online Volunteering service at the national level. By leveraging a broader network of volunteers, this effort seeks to enhance public awareness, foster stronger community engagement, and significantly extend the influence and accessibility of the UNV programme across South Africa.

Responsibilities

Online Volunteers will support the UNV South Africa office's digital outreach by promoting corporate and local content across various social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). They will develop creative content, including posts, articles, graphics, and short videos, tailored to engage diverse local audiences and highlight key messages and stories relevant to South Africa. Responsibilities also include actively engaging with local organizations to build partnerships and expand campaign reach, organizing and participating in online events like webinars and digital storytelling sessions, and monitoring and reporting on engagement metrics and feedback from outreach activities. Volunteers will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and receive necessary training and resources.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong communication and writing skills, creativity, and a solid understanding of social media platforms. Online Volunteers must have active accounts on at least three major social media platforms. Desirable experience includes content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management.

Key skills required are strong communication and writing abilities, creativity, and a good understanding of social media platforms. Desired skills include experience in content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management. Fluency in English is mandatory, with fluency in Zulu, Xhosa, or Afrikaans being a strong asset.
