The UNV office in Uganda seeks Online Volunteers to enhance its digital outreach and communication efforts, aiming to increase visibility of the communication team's work and promote the Online Volunteering service within the country. This initiative seeks to raise public awareness and expand the UNV programme's reach in Uganda.

Job Purpose

The UNV office in Uganda is seeking enthusiastic and creative Online Volunteers to support digital outreach and communication efforts. The primary purpose is to increase the visibility of the communication team's valuable work and to strengthen the growth and uptake of the Online Volunteering service at the country level. By engaging a wider network of volunteers, the initiative aims to raise public awareness, foster stronger community engagement, and ultimately expand the reach and impact of the UNV programme within Uganda. This role is crucial for enhancing UNV's digital presence and engagement.

Responsibilities

Online Volunteers will support the UNV office in Uganda's digital outreach activities. Key responsibilities include promoting corporate and local content across various digital and social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). Volunteers will develop creative content ideas, including posts, articles, graphics, and short videos, to engage diverse local audiences and raise awareness of relevant messages and stories. They will actively engage with local organizations and communities to foster partnerships and expand campaign reach. Additionally, volunteers will support online events like virtual discussions and webinars, and monitor and report on engagement metrics and feedback from outreach activities. They will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and receive necessary training and resources.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong communication and writing skills, creativity, and a good understanding of social media platforms. Online Volunteers must have active accounts on at least three specified social media platforms. Desired experience includes content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management. Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of a local language being a strong asset.
