The UNV office in Malawi seeks Online Volunteers to enhance its digital outreach and communication efforts. This initiative aims to increase the visibility of the communication team's work and promote the Online Volunteering service within the country, thereby expanding the UNV programme's reach and impact.
Job Purpose
The UNV office in Malawi is seeking enthusiastic and creative Online Volunteers to support its digital outreach and communication initiatives. The primary goal is to increase the visibility of the communication team's valuable work and to strengthen the growth and adoption of the Online Volunteering service at the country level. By engaging a wider network of volunteers, this role will help raise public awareness, foster stronger community engagement, and ultimately expand the reach and impact of the UNV programme in Malawi. The assignment focuses on social media presence and digital communication strategies.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will support the UNV office in Malawi with digital outreach activities. Key responsibilities include: • Content Promotion: Sharing and promoting corporate and local content across various digital and social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. • Content Creation: Developing creative ideas and producing engaging content, including posts, articles, graphics, and short videos, tailored for diverse local audiences to raise awareness of key messages and stories relevant to Malawi. • Community Engagement: Actively interacting with local organizations and communities to build partnerships and extend the reach of communication campaigns. • Event Support: Organizing and participating in local online events, including virtual discussions, webinars, and digital storytelling sessions. • Monitoring & Reporting: Tracking and reporting on engagement metrics and feedback derived from outreach activities. Volunteers will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and receive necessary training and resources.
Work Experience
Required experience includes strong communication and writing skills, creativity, and a solid understanding of social media platforms. Online Volunteers must possess active accounts on at least three of the mentioned social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). Experience in content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management is considered an advantage.
Skills
Essential skills include strong communication and writing abilities, creativity, and a comprehensive understanding of social media platforms. Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of the Chichewa language is desirable. The ability to actively engage with diverse audiences and contribute to content creation and promotion is key.
