This initiative seeks to increase the visibility of the communications team's work and promote the Online Volunteering service within Kenya, thereby expanding the UNV programme's reach and impact.

Job Purpose

This assignment seeks enthusiastic and creative Online Volunteers to bolster the UNV office in Kenya's digital outreach and communication strategies. The primary goal is to amplify the visibility of the communications team's impactful work and to drive the growth and adoption of the Online Volunteering service at the country level. By leveraging a broader network of volunteers, the initiative aims to significantly raise public awareness about UNV's contributions, foster stronger community engagement, and ultimately expand the overall reach and influence of the UNV programme within Kenya. This role is crucial for enhancing UNV's online presence and engagement.

Responsibilities

Online Volunteers will support the UNV office in Kenya's digital outreach initiatives. Key duties include promoting corporate and local content across various digital and social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). Volunteers will also be responsible for developing creative content ideas, including posts, articles, graphics, and short videos, tailored to engage diverse local audiences and highlight relevant messages and stories from Kenya. Active engagement with local organizations and communities to build partnerships and extend campaign reach is expected. Additionally, volunteers will assist in organizing and participating in online events like webinars and digital storytelling sessions, and will monitor and report on engagement metrics and feedback from these outreach activities. They will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and receive necessary guidance and assets.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong communication and writing skills, creativity, and a solid understanding of social media platforms. Online Volunteers must have active accounts on at least three major social media platforms. Desirable experience includes content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management. Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of Kiswahili being a strong asset.
