Organizational Context

In the Savanes region, UNICEF strengthens child protection systems and essential services amidst multidimensional vulnerabilities, focusing on prevention, identification, referral, and care for at-risk children.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF's efforts in the Savanes region of Togo to strengthen child protection systems and ensure continuity of essential services. The incumbent will provide technical support for the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of child protection interventions, with a focus on the most vulnerable children and adolescents, including those in border areas or with limited access to basic social services. The volunteer will contribute to planning, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of child protection activities, coordinating with government services, local authorities, civil society, and other partners to enhance mechanisms for preventing, identifying, referring, and caring for children at risk or victims of rights violations.
Responsibilities
The National UN Volunteer Child Protection Specialist will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and coordination of child protection interventions in the Savanes region under the supervision of the Child Protection Officer. Key responsibilities include strengthening institutional and community-based systems for preventing and responding to violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect, and improving access to integrated, inclusive, and quality child protection services for vulnerable children. This involves providing on-site technical support to decentralized services, local authorities, civil society organizations, and community structures. The role requires regular field missions to monitor intervention quality, identify implementation challenges, document best practices, and formulate recommendations. The volunteer will also participate in emergency preparedness and response, advocacy, capacity building, community mobilization, and knowledge production activities to support the UNICEF-Togo cooperation program.
Work Experience
Requires three years of progressive experience in designing, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating child protection programs or support for vulnerable populations. Demonstrated experience in preventing and responding to violence against children, including case management and referral mechanisms, is essential. Experience collaborating with government institutions, civil society, and community structures, along with data collection and analysis for program reporting, is required. Prior experience with the UN or UNICEF is an asset.
