Organizational Context
The UNIC MEX office supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through various initiatives. The SDG Book Club Mexico, launched in December 2024, is a collective space that uses stories to engage children and youth with the SDGs. It aims to foster understanding, reflection, and collective action towards a better world, emphasizing the critical role of young people as agents of change and books as a tool for inspiration and new perspectives.
Job Purpose
This role supports the SDG Book Club Mexico by assisting in the evaluation and validation of official spaces and reading clubs applying to join the initiative. The volunteer will review applications, conduct validation interviews, and systematically record findings. The primary goal is to ensure that selected participants meet the established criteria, thereby strengthening the club's network and its impact. This contribution is vital for expanding the reach of the SDG Book Club and its mission to educate and empower children and youth in Mexico to act for sustainable development.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze submitted evaluations and application forms, ensuring they meet the criteria for the SDG Book Club. Identify incomplete information, inconsistencies, or elements requiring further verification. Conduct brief validation interviews with applicants to confirm the existence, characteristics, and commitment of the reading spaces or clubs. Systematically record and document interview results and evaluation outcomes. Identify potential areas for improvement and provide recommendations on the suitability of applications. Maintain an updated database of applications and their review status. Support the preparation of reports on the progress and results of the validation process.
Work Experience
Experience in evaluation and selection processes, conducting interviews, working with educational or cultural communities, project management, information systematization, and liaison with organizations is desirable. Basic to intermediate proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets is required.

Excellent oral and written communication in Spanish. Ability to conduct professional and objective interviews. Organized and able to meet deadlines. Interest in reading, education, culture, sustainable development, and the SDGs. Commitment to impartiality, confidentiality, and respect. Ability to conduct virtual interviews and follow up.
