Develop a Functional School Connectivity Partnership Portal Prototype
Organizational Context
UNICEF is mandated to advocate for children's rights and basic needs. In Uganda, UNICEF collaborates with the Ministry of Education and Sports and Airtel Uganda to enhance school connectivity and digital learning. This partnership aims to bridge the digital divide, providing schools access to digital resources and strengthening digital skills. The initiative seeks to improve coordination among various stakeholders, including government, private sector, and development partners, to support evidence-based planning and coordination for digital learning interventions.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to develop a functional prototype for a School Connectivity Partnership Portal. The portal will serve as a visualization tool for stakeholders to review potential features, such as school profiles, connectivity status, dashboards, document organization, and map-based data visualization. The prototype will support planning, monitoring, reporting, and knowledge sharing within the partnership. By contributing to the design of this digital tool, the Online Volunteer will support SDG 4: Quality Education, strengthening evidence-based planning and coordination for school connectivity and digital learning initiatives in Uganda.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will contribute to a digital education initiative by developing a functional prototype for a School Connectivity Partnership Portal. Key responsibilities include discussing and agreeing on the portal's structure, user needs, and priority features with stakeholders. The volunteer will prepare a sitemap and user journey map to illustrate navigation. Wireframes and interface layouts for key pages will be designed, followed by the development of a clickable or functional prototype using dummy or anonymized data. This prototype will demonstrate features like sample dashboards, school profiles, document repository, and map visualization. Feedback from the project team will be incorporated for refinement, and a handover note with recommendations for future development will be prepared.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a background in web design, user interface design, web development, information systems, or digital product design. The ability to create wireframes, mock-ups, or clickable prototypes using tools like Figma, Canva, PowerPoint, or no-code platforms is essential. A basic understanding of dashboards, data visualization, or information architecture is desirable.
Skills
Essential skills include web design, user interface design, and web development. Proficiency in creating prototypes using relevant tools (e.g., Figma, Canva, PowerPoint, no-code platforms) is required. Desirable skills include a basic understanding of dashboards, data visualization, and information architecture. Strong communication skills, the ability to work remotely with a multicultural team, clear documentation, and adherence to timelines are also important. Commitment to confidentiality, responsible data use, and child safeguarding principles is expected.
