The General Organic Management and Coordination (GMC) Group supports health programs and logistics. The ROSU/OSS unit within GMC ensures efficient administrative and logistical services, focusing on water and food quality and sanitation.
Job Purpose
This role supports the ROSU/OSS unit within WHO's GMC Group, ensuring effective administrative and logistical services. The incumbent will guarantee the quality of water and food for residents at the regional office and Djoué village. Responsibilities include coordinating and monitoring daily sanitation and hygiene services, such as green space maintenance, office cleaning, waste management, and pest control. The position is crucial for maintaining a healthy and safe living and working environment within the WHO premises, contributing directly to the well-being of staff and residents.
Responsibilities
Under the general responsibility of the Regional Administrative Services Manager (ROSU/OSS) and direct supervision of the Facilities Management Administrator, the post holder will: Food Quality Verification: Monitor procurement procedures and raw ingredient quality to ensure protocol compliance. Evaluate raw ingredients and finished products for microbiological compliance. Inspect food storage, preparation, and serving practices, recommending corrective actions. Organize annual food hygiene awareness sessions for catering staff. Conduct ad-hoc checks on catering, sanitation, and cleaning services. Ensure no spoiled or substandard food is served. Water Quality: Manage and monitor water sampling operations, adhering to procedures and hygiene rules, ensuring sample traceability. Oversee laboratory analyses (physico-chemical and microbiological) according to WHO standards and local regulations. Collect annual water samples for accredited laboratory analysis. Advise on corrective measures for contamination. Ensure preventive and curative maintenance of water production, treatment, and distribution infrastructure. Draft reports and maintain statistics for the water, hygiene, and sanitation section. General Administration: Manage and evaluate maintenance of green spaces and gardens, including waste collection. Oversee permanent maintenance (cleaning) of all premises. Manage pest control (insects, rodents, snakes) and disinfection operations. Manage maintenance and emptying of non-collective sanitation facilities. Liaise with water distribution services for regular water supply. Develop terms of reference, prepare technical evaluations, and purchase orders. Support building administration and HR policy implementation in the area of competence.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. This includes experience in a food or water microbiology laboratory, sanitation project, chemistry laboratory, hydraulic project, hygiene company, or in the operation and maintenance of drinking water production and distribution systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general knowledge of laboratory management systems and technologies are also required.
