In Burundi, UNFPA is implementing its 9th Cooperation Programme (2024-2027), focusing on improving reproductive health services, combating discriminatory social and gender norms, empowering youth, and enhancing data utilization for national planning. To support its "Professional Knowledge Springboard" internship program for young people, UNFPA Burundi seeks a mentor.
Job Purpose
This role serves to mentor interns within UNFPA Burundi's "Professional Knowledge Springboard" program, providing comprehensive career development support. The mentor will guide interns in understanding UNFPA's work, particularly in health product security. This involves assisting them in gaining practical experience in areas such as reproductive health product quantification, procurement, distribution, cold chain management, and inventory. The mentor will also support interns in documenting activities, identifying best practices, proposing innovations, and participating in program implementation, including workshops and meetings. The aim is to enhance the interns' professional skills and prepare them for future careers within the UN system and beyond.
Responsibilities
The mentor will guide interns in familiarizing themselves with UNFPA Burundi's operations, with a specific focus on health product security. Key responsibilities include supporting interns in: - Participating in the quantification of reproductive health products. - Assisting with the procurement of reproductive health products. - Managing the reception and distribution tracking of reproductive health products. - Ensuring adherence to cold chain requirements for sensitive products. - Conducting physical inventory counts at central and peripheral levels. - Documenting reproductive health program activities and sharing best practices. - Proposing innovative approaches for reproductive health initiatives. - Supporting program implementation activities, including organizing workshops, seminars, and meetings. - Assisting in the development of program-related documents, such as Terms of Reference, technical notes, and meeting minutes. - Providing support in other program areas as needed.
Work Experience
While specific years of experience are not detailed, the role requires a background in Health Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related field, ideally at the Master's level. Experience in project administration and management, along with basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media), is beneficial. Fluency in French, English, and Kirundi is necessary.
