In Burundi, UNFPA is implementing its 9th Cooperation Programme (2024-2027), focusing on improving reproductive health services, combating discriminatory social and gender norms, enhancing youth capabilities, and strengthening data utilization for national planning. To support its "Tremplin du Savoir Professionnel" internship program, UNFPA Burundi seeks to recruit online volunteer mentors.
Job Purpose
This role aims to provide professional guidance and mentorship to interns within UNFPA Burundi's "Tremplin du Savoir Professionnel" program. The mentor will help interns integrate into the UN system and gain practical experience, particularly in financial management. The objective is to offer comprehensive career development support, enabling interns to understand UNFPA's operations and contribute effectively to financial tasks. This includes assisting with budget monitoring, financial reporting, payment processing, and account reconciliation, thereby enhancing the interns' professional growth and readiness for future careers.
Responsibilities
The mentor will guide interns in understanding UNFPA Burundi's general operations and specific financial procedures. Key duties include: - Assisting interns in budget monitoring and verifying the compliance of project supporting documents. - Supporting the preparation of periodic financial reports and conducting expenditure analysis for the office. - Contributing to the processing and tracking of payments for consultants, interns, and suppliers within relevant systems. - Aiding in account reconciliation and managing the digital or physical filing of financial records. - Facilitating interns' familiarization with UN system immersion and UNV program offerings. - Providing one-on-one support, coaching, and mentorship to enhance interns' professional development and career planning.
Work Experience
While specific years of experience are not detailed, the role requires a strong foundation in financial principles, ideally gained through academic study in Economics or Finance. Experience in administration and project management is beneficial. The ability to adapt to diverse cultures and environments is also noted.
Skills
