In Burundi, UNFPA is implementing its 9th Cooperation Programme (2024-2027), focusing on improving reproductive healthcare, combating discriminatory gender norms, enhancing youth capabilities, and strengthening data utilization to achieve transformative results. A new "Professional Knowledge Springboard" internship program has been launched for young people.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNFPA Burundi's "Professional Knowledge Springboard" internship program by providing mentorship to interns. The purpose is to offer comprehensive career development guidance, including immersion into the UN system and the UNV program. The mentor will guide interns through their professional journey, ensuring they gain valuable experience and skills. This position is crucial for maximizing the benefits of the UNV online volunteering opportunity, offering professional orientation and support to interns as they navigate their assignments within UNFPA Burundi, contributing to their growth and the program's success.
Responsibilities
The mentor will assist interns in familiarizing themselves with UNFPA Burundi's general operations and specifically with the Program Coordination unit. Key duties include guiding interns in planning, implementing, and monitoring program coordination activities. The mentor will also provide support in drafting meeting minutes, progress reports, and other administrative or technical documents. Regular advice will be offered to enhance the intern's professional and organizational skills. Furthermore, the mentor will facilitate the intern's integration into the team and promote networking with program partners, ensuring a supportive and productive learning environment.
Work Experience
While specific years of experience are not detailed, the role requires a background in Program Management or related fields, evidenced by a Master's degree. Essential experience includes basic administration and project management knowledge. Familiarity with computer applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also a key requirement for this mentorship position.
