In Burundi, UNFPA is implementing its 9th Cooperation Programme (2024-2027), focusing on improving reproductive health services, combating discriminatory social and gender norms, strengthening youth capacities, and enhancing data utilization for national planning. To support its "Professional Knowledge Springboard" internship program for young people, UNFPA Burundi seeks to recruit online volunteer mentors.

Job Purpose

This role serves to mentor interns within UNFPA Burundi's "Professional Knowledge Springboard" program, specifically those focusing on Communication and Videography. The mentor will guide interns in understanding UNFPA's work and multimedia communication strategies, facilitating their professional development. The objective is to provide comprehensive support, enabling interns to gain practical experience in content creation, video production, and media coverage, thereby enhancing their career prospects and contributing to UNFPA's communication goals. This mentorship is crucial for immersing interns in the UN system and equipping them with valuable skills.

Responsibilities

The mentor will guide interns in familiarizing themselves with UNFPA Burundi's operations and communication-videography activities. Key duties include supporting the design, filming, and editing of audiovisual content to showcase agency projects. The mentor will assist in scriptwriting and producing video capsules, interviews, and field reports. Responsibilities also involve contributing to the management and archiving of visual and audiovisual content, creating daily interactive content for social media platforms (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube), and covering media and audiovisual aspects of workshops and events. The mentor will also provide support in other multimedia areas as needed.

Work Experience

While specific years of experience are not detailed, the role requires a background in Communication/Videography, ideally at a Master's level. Experience in project administration and management is desirable. Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media platforms is expected. Fluency in French and Kirundi is required, with English proficiency being desirable.
