To support its "Tremplin du Savoir Professionnel" internship program, UNFPA Burundi seeks to recruit a mentor.

Job Purpose

The UNFPA Burundi office is seeking a mentor to support interns within its "Tremplin du Savoir Professionnel" program. This role is designed to provide comprehensive career guidance and professional development, immersing interns in the UN system and the specific work of UNFPA. The mentor will assist interns in familiarizing themselves with UNFPA's operations, particularly in communication and writing. The objective is to enhance the interns' understanding of communication strategies, content creation for social media and web platforms, and document production, ultimately contributing to their professional growth and UNFPA's communication efforts.

Responsibilities

The mentor will guide interns in understanding UNFPA Burundi's work, with a focus on communication and writing. Key duties include facilitating familiarity with UNFPA's communication and social media activities, assisting in the development and production of communication materials, and supporting the drafting of articles, newsletters, and information bulletins. The mentor will also help in creating and scheduling daily content for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) and the website, encouraging innovative communication approaches. Additionally, responsibilities involve proofreading and linguistic correction of documents, contributing to activity/workshop reporting, and supporting interns in their training and capacity-building activities. The mentor may also provide support in other areas as needed.

Work Experience

While specific years of experience are not detailed, the role requires a strong foundation in communication and writing. Desirable experience includes basic knowledge of administration and project management, as well as proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media platforms. Fluency in French, English, and Kirundi is also a key requirement.
