Field Worker (Earthquake Study Assessment) - Hatay

Job Purpose
The Field Worker will support IOM Türkiye's Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) activities, funded by ECHO, to generate reliable and timely data in earthquake-affected provinces. The primary goal is to inform evidence-based decision-making and enhance program effectiveness. The UN Volunteer will conduct field-level data collection, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established methodologies, tools, and ethical standards. Reporting to IOM's Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator, the role is crucial for gathering essential information from both host and migrant communities to understand migration dynamics and support vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
The Field Worker will prepare fieldwork plans for earthquake-affected provinces and conduct surveys targeting specific nationalities. Key duties include performing quantitative and qualitative interviews with host and migrant communities, strictly adhering to ethical standards such as confidentiality and informed consent. The role requires regular communication with the IOM team, providing daily progress reports and highlighting any challenges encountered. Interviews must be conducted respectfully, sensitively, and in a culturally appropriate manner. Accurate utilization of designated mobile data collection tools and platforms is essential. The UN Volunteer will submit daily updates on progress, challenges, and field observations, and perform any other assigned duties by the supervisor.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or assessments is desired. Experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is a strong advantage. Familiarity with digital data collection tools like KoboToolbox or ODK is also desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability to dynamic field conditions are important.
