Field Worker (Earthquake Study Assessment) - Malatya

Job Purpose
This role supports IOM's field-level data collection activities under the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), funded by ECHO, in earthquake-affected provinces of Türkiye. The primary objective is to generate reliable, timely, and actionable data to inform evidence-based decision-making and improve program effectiveness. The Field Worker will report to IOM, under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator. The UN Volunteer's contribution is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely data gathering, adhering strictly to established methodologies, tools, and ethical standards in the field.
Responsibilities
The Field Worker will prepare and execute a fieldwork plan for earthquake-affected provinces, conducting surveys with target nationalities. Key duties include performing quantitative and qualitative interviews with host and migrant communities, ensuring strict adherence to ethical standards such as confidentiality, informed consent, and data protection. The role requires regular communication with the IOM team, providing daily progress reports, and flagging any issues or challenges encountered. Interviews must be conducted respectfully, sensitively, and in a culturally appropriate manner. The Field Worker will accurately utilize designated mobile data collection tools and platforms, submitting daily updates on progress, challenges, and field observations. Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor are also part of the responsibilities.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or assessments is desired. Experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is a strong advantage. Familiarity with digital data collection tools like KoboToolbox or ODK is also desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability to dynamic field conditions are important.
