Job Purpose
This role supports IOM Türkiye's field-level data collection activities under the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), funded by ECHO. The primary objective is to generate reliable, timely, and actionable data to inform evidence-based decision-making and enhance program effectiveness in earthquake-affected regions. The Field Worker will operate under the direct supervision of IOM's Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator, ensuring accurate and timely data gathering in line with established methodologies, tools, and ethical standards. This contribution is crucial for understanding and responding to the needs of affected populations.
Responsibilities
The Field Worker will prepare a fieldwork plan for earthquake-affected provinces and conduct surveys targeting specific nationalities. Key duties include conducting quantitative and qualitative interviews with host and migrant communities, adhering strictly to ethical standards such as confidentiality, informed consent, and data protection. The role involves maintaining regular communication with the IOM team, reporting daily progress, and flagging any issues or challenges encountered. Interviews must be conducted in a respectful, sensitive, and culturally appropriate manner. The Field Worker will accurately utilize designated mobile data collection tools and platforms, submitting daily updates on progress, challenges, and observations. Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor are also part of the responsibilities.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or assessments is desired. Experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is a strong advantage. Familiarity with digital data collection tools like KoboToolbox or ODK is also desirable.
Skills
The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations. Adaptability to dynamic field conditions is essential. Proficiency in Turkish is required, and fluency in English is an advantage.
