Job Purpose
The Field Worker will support IOM's Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) activities in earthquake-affected provinces in Türkiye, funded by ECHO. The primary goal is to generate reliable, timely, and actionable data through field-level data collection to inform evidence-based decision-making and improve program effectiveness. The UN Volunteer will conduct quantitative and qualitative interviews, ensuring adherence to established methodologies, ethical standards, and data protection principles. This role is crucial for understanding the needs and dynamics within host and migrant communities, contributing directly to IOM's humanitarian response and resilience-building efforts.
Responsibilities
The Field Worker will prepare and execute a fieldwork plan for earthquake-affected provinces, conducting surveys and interviews with target nationalities. Key duties include performing quantitative and qualitative interviews with host and migrant communities, strictly adhering to ethical standards such as confidentiality and informed consent. The role requires accurate utilization of mobile data collection tools and platforms, maintaining regular communication with the IOM team, and submitting daily progress reports. This involves flagging any issues or challenges encountered in the field. The Field Worker must conduct interviews respectfully, sensitively, and in a culturally appropriate manner, and perform any other assigned duties by the supervisor.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or assessments is desired. Experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is a strong advantage. Familiarity with digital data collection tools like KoboToolbox or ODK is also desirable.
Skills
The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations. Adaptability to dynamic field conditions is essential. The UN Volunteer must demonstrate integrity, transparency, professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and the ability to deliver results. Expertise in emergency preparedness, crisis response, community development, humanitarian affairs, and protection is beneficial. Fluency in Arabic is required, and Turkish and English are advantageous.
