Job Purpose
This role supports IOM's field-level data collection activities under the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in earthquake-affected provinces in Türkiye, with ECHO support. The primary purpose is to generate reliable, timely, and actionable data to inform evidence-based decision-making and enhance programme effectiveness. The Field Worker will conduct quantitative and qualitative interviews, ensuring accurate and timely data gathering in line with established methodologies and ethical standards. The assignment aims to contribute to understanding migration dynamics and supporting vulnerable populations in a post-disaster context.
Responsibilities
The Field Worker will prepare and execute a fieldwork plan for earthquake-affected provinces, conducting surveys targeting specific nationalities. Key duties include performing quantitative and qualitative interviews with host and migrant communities, strictly adhering to ethical standards such as confidentiality and informed consent. The role involves maintaining regular communication with the IOM team, reporting daily progress, and flagging any issues or challenges encountered. Accurate utilization of designated mobile data collection tools and platforms is essential. The Field Worker must conduct interviews respectfully, sensitively, and in a culturally appropriate manner, submitting daily updates on progress and observations. Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor are also part of the responsibilities.
Work Experience
No prior experience is strictly required. However, previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or assessments is desired. Experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is a strong advantage. Familiarity with digital data collection tools like KoboToolbox or ODK is also desirable.
Skills
The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations. Adaptability to dynamic field conditions is crucial. Adherence to UN values of inclusion, respect for diversity, integrity, transparency, and professionalism is expected.
