Job Purpose
This role supports IOM's field-level data collection activities under the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in Türkiye, funded by ECHO. The primary purpose is to generate reliable, timely, and actionable data to inform evidence-based decision-making and enhance program effectiveness in earthquake-affected areas. The Field Worker will contribute by ensuring accurate and timely data gathering, adhering to established methodologies, tools, and ethical standards, under the direct supervision of IOM's Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator.
Responsibilities
The Field Worker will prepare and execute a fieldwork plan for earthquake-affected provinces, conducting quantitative and qualitative interviews with host and migrant communities. Key duties include strict adherence to ethical standards (confidentiality, informed consent, data protection), respectful and culturally sensitive interaction, and accurate utilization of mobile data collection tools. The role requires daily communication with the IOM team, reporting progress, flagging challenges, and submitting daily updates with observations. Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor are also part of the responsibilities.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or assessments is desired. Experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is a strong advantage. Familiarity with digital data collection tools like KoboToolbox or ODK is also desirable.
Skills
The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.
