Organizational Context
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Burkina Faso supports the government in implementing the ICPD beyond 2014 agenda and SDGs. Key priorities include ensuring universal access to quality sexual and reproductive health services, promoting gender equality and women's empowerment, fostering youth employment and leadership, and improving data for development. UNFPA collaborates with the Ministry of Sports, Youth, and Employment on an initiative to enhance youth employability and socio-economic integration in the Guiriko region.
Job Purpose
This role supports the UNFPA's initiative 'Catalyzing Youth Human Capital in the Guiriko Region: Skills and Opportunities, Social Cohesion, Health, and Fight against GBVs'. The volunteer will integrate into a partner company or local structure, assisting with professional activities and gaining practical skills through on-the-job learning. The assignment aims to facilitate sustainable youth employment and socio-economic integration, contributing to local development and social cohesion. The volunteer will also participate in coaching and reporting activities, documenting experiences and lessons learned to improve the program.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the UNFPA Youth Programme Officer and the Community Volunteer Coordination Officer, and in collaboration with the host company supervisor, the UN Volunteer will: **Integration and Professional Experience:** Actively integrate into a partner company or local structure. Support the implementation of professional activities within the assigned domain. Execute tasks according to internal procedures, schedules, and professional requirements. Develop practical skills through real-world work experience. Demonstrate professionalism, discipline, punctuality, and teamwork. **Learning and Personal Development:** Acquire professional tools, methods, and practices. Actively participate in coaching and mentoring activities within the 'Catalyzing Youth Human Capital' initiative. Develop skills in communication, work organization, and problem-solving. **Reporting and Knowledge Management:** Regularly report on activities to the company supervisor and coordination team. Document achievements, challenges, and best practices. Share experiences and lessons learned for continuous program improvement.
Work Experience
No prior professional experience is required. The role is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience and develop skills in various technical trades. Relevant fields include civil engineering, construction, welding, electricity, BTP, metal carpentry, hospitality, catering, cooking, driving, and commercial roles, depending on the specific needs of the host companies.
