Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support the Property Control and Inventory Unit (PCIU) by managing and tracking UN assets, conducting inventory verifications, and maintaining accurate records. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with UN property management policies. The assignment directly contributes to strengthening asset accountability, enhancing inventory accuracy, and ultimately supporting the efficient operational functioning of the mission. The volunteer's efforts will help maintain the integrity and proper utilization of mission resources.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Property Control and Inventory Officer, the UN Volunteer will assist in planning and coordinating property control activities. Key duties include monitoring operations through statistical analysis of property records and submitting weekly reports. The volunteer will conduct physical verifications of UN property and maintain accurate, auditable records in both hard copy and electronic formats. Responsibilities also involve monitoring and evaluating property management processes using business intelligence tools, analyzing the mission inventory management system to identify and address discrepancies, and resolving problematic areas in property control. The role requires liaising with property management counterparts on inventory control, receiving, inspection, write-off, and disposal activities, and drafting correspondence. Additionally, the volunteer will dedicate time to capacity development of national staff and counterparts through coaching and training.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Management, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in asset management, inventory control, logistics, warehouse operations, or administrative support is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with databases and inventory management systems are necessary. Experience with UN property management policies, ERP systems like UMOJA, and previous work in a UN or international organization are desirable.
