Organizational Context

UN Women (UNW) is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls globally. In the State of Palestine, UN Women has been active since 1997, focusing on implementing international commitments to advance gender equality aligned with national priorities. The office works on mainstreaming gender in governance, peace, and security; supporting women's economic security and rights; and promoting women's protection against violence.

Job Purpose

This role supports UN Women Palestine's communications and advocacy efforts to promote gender equality and highlight the achievements of Palestinian women and girls. The volunteer will assist the Communications team in creating engaging digital and social media content in both Arabic and English. The objective is to enhance the reach and engagement of UN Women's online presence, effectively communicating programme results and advancing the organization's mission through multimedia content creation, including short videos and carousels.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will support the development and adaptation of social media content in Arabic and English for various platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube. This includes drafting and editing captions, short copy, and campaign messages, as well as creating Reels, short videos, and carousels. The role involves staying updated on social media trends to suggest creative content formats, contributing to increased audience reach and engagement, and assisting in performance reviews to identify effective content strategies. The volunteer will also contribute to broader communications and advocacy campaigns.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong writing and editing skills in Arabic and English, a good understanding of major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube), and an interest in digital storytelling and content creation. Desirable experience includes a basic understanding of social media reach and engagement strategies, familiarity with content creation tools like Canva or CapCut, and basic knowledge of social media analytics.
