This assignment is within the Integrated Support for Advancing Reforms and Democratic Governance (IP-SARG) project, focusing on enhancing governance and justice sector reforms through policy advice, technical support, and digitalization initiatives.
Job Purpose
This role supports the IP-SARG project, which aims to advance democratic and institutional reforms in Bangladesh, contributing to more equitable and accountable governance and justice systems. The UN Volunteer will provide crucial surge capacity in policy, coordination, results-tracking, and communication for justice sector engagements. Key contributions include supporting policy and technical advisory services to national institutions, assisting in the digitalization of justice services, conducting policy research, coordinating with stakeholders, and preparing essential reports and communication materials to enhance the project's visibility and impact.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide policy and program support to engagements with key justice sector institutions, including the Attorney General's Office and the Supreme Court. Responsibilities include supporting court digitization and justice innovation initiatives, such as AI-enabled court transcription, through research and pilot coordination. The role involves conducting policy research and comparative analysis on justice sector reform and digital transformation. Day-to-day coordination with government counterparts and stakeholders is essential for timely activity implementation. The volunteer will maintain systematic results tracking and documentation, prepare donor and corporate reports, policy briefs, and other communication products, and support the overall communication and visibility of project interventions.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience is required, with at least three years focused on policy research, governance or justice sector programming, project implementation, donor reporting, stakeholder management, or strategic communication. Experience in policy analysis, stakeholder coordination, programme implementation, and results reporting is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent communication skills in English and Bengali are necessary.
