Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Chad coordinates the UN System's strategic and operational activities, facilitating the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022-2026. Chad faces complex humanitarian and development challenges, including a large refugee population, chronic food insecurity, and persistent climate and security issues. The UN in Chad comprises approximately 20 operational entities, mobilizing significant resources for vulnerable populations. Institutional communication, particularly through video, is vital for showcasing collective UN results to national authorities, partners, media, and the public.
Job Purpose
The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Chad seeks to enhance the visibility of its collective achievements through the production of two institutional videos. One video will simplify the UN's 2025 Annual Report for development in Chad, with a planned September 2026 release. The second video will focus on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024-2026, highlighting results, lessons learned, and prospects for the 2027-2030 cycle, scheduled for October 2026. The assignment involves editing and finalizing these videos using provided footage and materials, contributing to effective communication of the UN's impact in Chad.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the RCO Chad Communications Officer, and in collaboration with agency focal points, the Video Volunteer will be responsible for:
Phase 1: Editing Preparation:
Participate in briefing meetings.
Analyze provided materials, including rushes, interviews, B-roll, photos, the 2025 Annual Report, and UNSDCF documents.
Develop editing concepts and storyboards for each video.
Propose creative and graphic approaches aligned with UN branding.
Phase 2: Editing and Post-production:
Edit the two institutional videos according to approved guidelines.
Create graphic elements, including animations, maps, titles, and subtitles.
Perform color grading and sound mixing.
Integrate institutional elements and UN graphic standards.
Phase 3: Review and Finalization:
Incorporate feedback from the Communications Officer and agency focal points.
Produce final versions in required formats for web, social media, and institutional events.
Deliver final edited files and used rushes.
Work Experience
Proven experience in editing institutional videos for international organizations, NGOs, or development agencies is required. Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro (preferred), DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro is essential. Experience with graphic design, subtitling, color grading, and sound mixing is also necessary. Familiarity with web, social media, and institutional event video formats is expected.
Skills
Essential skills include excellent command of video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro), graphic design, subtitling, color grading, and sound mixing. The volunteer must be able to work with provided rushes, adhere to scenarios, and produce final outputs in various formats. Strong attention to detail, rigor, visual/audio quality focus, autonomy, time management, and remote teamwork capabilities are crucial. Cultural sensitivity and proactivity in proposing creative solutions are also valued.
