UNFPA implements a significant portion of its programs through Implementing Partners, who must submit financial reports and execution support documents for the legalization of transferred resources. Timely and rigorous review of this documentation is crucial for proper resource management, compliance with UN financial standards, and transparency.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNFPA Colombia by reviewing and validating financial documentation submitted by Implementing Partners (IPs). The purpose is to ensure the proper administration of resources, compliance with UN financial regulations, and transparency in project execution. The Online Volunteer will analyze financial and administrative support documents, identify discrepancies, draft observations, and follow up on corrective actions until final acceptance of the financial reports. This contribution is vital for strengthening the review capacity, expediting validation times, and ensuring adequate financial monitoring of partner interventions.
Responsibilities
Support the review and validation process of financial legalization documents submitted by UNFPA Colombia's Implementing Partners (IPs). Verify compliance with organizational procedures, guidelines, controls, and documentary requirements. Analyze financial and administrative support documents, identify and document findings and inconsistencies, and prepare observations and requests for rectification. Follow up on IP responses and verify the implementation of corrective actions until final acceptance of the legalizations. Evaluate the sufficiency, coherence, and traceability of presented evidence, formulating clear and substantiated observations according to UNFPA financial procedures. Work on assigned cases, distributing them equitably to ensure timeliness, consistency, and quality in the review process. The outcome is to have reviewed files, documented observations, and validated legalizations meeting UNFPA financial standards and controls.
Work Experience
Experience in document review, auditing, internal control, financial management, or accounting is required. Experience with international organizations, projects funded by international cooperation, or grant management is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office is necessary.
Skills
Strong analytical and document analysis skills are essential. Excellent attention to detail is required. Ability to draft clear and structured observations is necessary. Capacity to work with confidential information and adhere to quality standards is important. Native Spanish language proficiency is required.
